Michael,

That's a tough situation; but the color coat over the nickel is just clear with some translucent toner in it. The problem is the finish is sprayed on. A brush touch up may not look too good. An airbrush might be a better approach. Matching the color of the toner might take a little work.

I recently acquired a circa 1983 Pinarello with a gold cromovelato finish and would like to try and "restore" the finish in a few spots where the gold has come off and a dull nickel-color is exposed. I tried some Blue Magic (which is like Simichrome, I think) on a small, hidden spot and it polished the dullness, but I was left with a silver spot instead of gold.

Any suggestions on fixing these spots, or am I better off leaving them alone?

Thanks!
