Richard,

Huret listed 3 different models of short cage Jubilee derailleurs in their 1977 brochure. There were earlier and later variations too.

Ref 2200: 13-24T FW 36-53T CR Ref 2252: 13-28T FW 36-53T CR Ref 2240: 13-24T FW 36-53T CR "patte italienne" for Campy dropouts

The Jubilee RDs were originally designed for Huret dropouts. They later came with a special tanged washer that went on the mounting bolt so that they would work on Campy style dropouts.

These are not real robust rear derailleurs and work best on close ratio freewheels and half step gearing. It's going to be a matter of trial and error.

Example: If the rear der. max. size of rear sprocket is 26t then, doing a retro-fit of a longer cage will allow for smaller (front) chain rings to be installed because more chain can now be wrapped but, the longer cage does not allow retro-fitting rear sprocket larger than the 26t max. (that is: one is"stuck" with the 26t rear sprocket).
