Brake Cleaner, found in all auto parts stores, is an excellent aerosol degreaser.

Not in my experience. Maybe time just flies too fast in my advanced years, but invariably most old tubes of tire patch cement I've found in my possession have been DOA. Even ones in good old lead tubes.
