Greg,

I'm not an authority on the subject; but I suspect Celeste is totally OK for your bike. I don't see any reason whay it wouldn't be.

Hi group. The recent postings showing Bret Van Horn's team bike and Jon Williams Specialissma has reminded me  of my own back burner project. I have a 1961 Competizione project bike needing a repaint. It was originally transparent blue over a silver base over the chrome. A previous owner stripped off 99 % of the origional paint. I am wondering about the correctness of redoing it in celeste, not the moral issue of changing the color but rather if the factory ever built celeste 1961 Competizion's. Does anyone know if the blue, green, black etc colors were just for north America with celeste continueing to be used on the rest of the world ? Or did celeste remain an option even in North America ? Or once the colors changed was it the end of celeste bikes except for "team" issue bikes? My Competizione with it's steel cottered crankset looks more like a 1950's bike and I think it would look better in celeste.  I am uneasy about painting it a totaly wrong colour unless it was at least an option or correct for a different market. Thanks group. Greg Lone Langley B.C. Canada
