Subject: [CR] Note about TA Crank removers

A note of warning:

I don't know how many generations of the "double threaded" extractor were made before they started offering the current, "single threaded" style. So perhaps this warning does not apply to all of the older Park extractors.

But in my experience, you needed to be extremely careful when using the Park crank extractor to remove a TA crank. Although it was nice of them to have a "double threaded" head, the extractor's tip was very wide. It did not always cleanly pass through the tapered section of a TA crank arm.

I would highly recommend obtaining a a VAR extractor, which I even find preferable to the genuine TA extractor. I believe Mel Pinto Imports still has the the VAR extractors in stock. (Go to the following Web page and scroll down to the #393 tool.) http://www.melpintoimports.com/varcranksettools.html
