In my previous email, I commented on a rear brake-bridge that was so squashed that the tube begins to taper almost 1" on either side of the brake hole.

I suggesed getting a framebuilder to braze on a new rear bridge with reinforcements (e.g. in the 'vintage style'). If all you're looking for a functional chrome-like repair, you could get a builder to braze on a modern stainless-steel recessed-nut bridge (can it be brazed with silver?) and then you can polish it yourself with high-grit (2000+ sandpaper) and simichrome:

The pre-made recessed brake bridge only costs $14. Still, you expect to damaged some nearby chrome on the stays, and a brush-chroming set will be needed when you are done.
