Sean, It is very common to see arms dated 1980 and 1981 that were sold together on a bicycle, so it seems not unlikely at all that Campagnolo matched what was functionally the same, in order to move them out the door. It has been noted before on this list, that large manufacturers were not too worried about things like this ... it's only us nutty collectors that care ... now nearly 30 years later!

All. I recently picked up a SR equipped bicycle with a set of mismatched campy cranks. The drive side is dated 1982 and the non is dated 1980. The original owner swears that they have never been changed or replaced and that the cranks are what was originally on it when it was purchased new in Italy.

It seems to me that with components so close In years that it is possible that campy could have sold mismatched sets to clear out old stock.

Does anyone know if this is the case? Did campy ever sell grouppos with components from different years?
