Dear List:

A few years ago, P. Lynn Miller was able to get some Velocity Synergy blanks for me and drill them 40 hole.  These were 650b for a hypothetical travel tandem, but it might be possible to get blank 700c rims and do the same.  Lynn, are you out there somewhere?

Somewhat easier, the Velocity Dyad is available in silver and 40 holes for tandem applications, but it is a semi aero design.

The Salsa Delgado is a nice looking silver rim, but in a 22 mm touring width.  I looked at the Velo Orange, but I was worried they were a tad light for a big hoss like me.  Does anyone know anyone at Salsa?  What would the minimum order be for 40 holes?

The possibility of clubbing together to buy a batch of rims has been mentioned.

Some years ago I used to buy undrilled rims from Super Champion and Wolber, but of course these companies have now closed down.

However I have a friend in France who has good contacts within the RIGIDA company that still manufactures a whole range of rims and, from what I have been told, is always on the look out for new lines.

Hopefully I shall be returning to France in the very near future and will pass very close by to the Rigida plant. If there are enough CR List members interested in the possibility of buying some 32H and 40H rims I would be quite happy to arrange an appointement with someone in the company to discuss possibilities.
