Subject: [CR] Re Ricardo Bikes of South Australia - Anyone?

Hi Crew A few years ago I had in my possession a Ricardo decalled bike. It was built with 80's Cinelli lugs with Columbus tubing. It was fitted with a 1st gen SR group. It came from South Australia and was a nice bit of gear....geometry seemed correct for a good lightweight racer and build looked very tidy. The frame was very light and it would have been a weapon in the right hands. I was told that this was a special build for a competition rider. Every other Ricardo I have seen has been of low end construction with 'el cheapo' components and an absolute disappointment compared to my original find. I would guess that the name Ricardo has been used and abused on many a private build of bike from the sublime to the ugly. Greg Softley Australia

Ahoy !

Perhaps a mere few weeks ago, a fellow CR Lister asked if anyone had information concerning the "Ricardo" stamped handlebars he has.

A brief and, unfortunately, shallow internet search mentions a brand of bicycle "Ricardo" which seems to have been built in South Australia.

Does anyone have information on Ricardo bicycles?

Thank you
