That is a good proposal. I sold the Masi that was designed and built for me by Mario and filed by me when I worked at Masi. I had sold it about twenty years ago. I recently had the opportunity to buy it back and did so. It was in filthy condition but not damaged for which I was grateful. Surprisingly, I like the way my 1971 Raleigh International rides better than the Masi. Old guys!

Now if I can only get a chance to buy back my Merz touring bike!

Since the subject has come up, I would advise those needing to sell especially prized bikes to consider selling them to a listmember - with a stipulation that buyer should offer seller a right of first refusal should buyer decide to sell bike to another party.  Same price??  I think likely not.

Perhaps not legally enforceable, but certainly honor would require it.  Although it is possible (and perhaps likely) the original owner might not be in a position to buy it back, he would know that he would have the option - and it would keep it in the 'family'

I recently repurchased a circa 1970 Cinelli SC that I had sold to another listmember.  We agreed to a first refusal arrangement and I was most happy to repurchase bike (not at the same price)
