Rich,

There were 2 different styles of Mafac 2000 brakes. The original ones used Competition calipers that were polished and satin anodized silver or gold. They had "Mafac 2000" stamped into the caliper arms.

Gold anodized components never sold that well back in the day. Most bikies into vanity components wanted Campy stuff anyway. My guess is that there were a lot of gold anodized Mafac brake sets left over and they've been showing up the past few years. They've become very desirable.
