Hi Sean, This is a cable roller for guiding the cable past an angle in the cable route. This particular guide/pully functions the rear brake assembly, from what little I have learned from this hobby. Some one may have a better explanation. John Proch La Grange, Texas

There seems to be a simple answer to this, but I can't figure it out.

How does this work:

Where does the housing stop and let the cable hit the roller? Or is this for a three speed setup? If so, wouldn't it need to be offset to one side?

I have a feeling that there is a really obvious explanation and I hesitated to ask, but I can't figure it out.
