I had a 14-30t freewheel for L'Eroica in my 1984 Cinelli. It had Campagnolo Nuovo Record components and the 30t worked fine, if a bit noisier than the other cogs. I was advised to unscrew the dropout adjusters all the way and even remove them, if needed, to get the axle as far back as possible.

The chain length is critical, too. I had to shorten the chain to make things work. Although counterintuitive, it helps to "pull" the derailleur away from the freewheel's teeth.

You still have to be lucky, though. A friend gave me a Nuovo Record rear derailleur in pristine condition and I could not get it to accept a 30t cog even though it looked identical to the Cinelli's original one.

I also just installed a 14-32t freewheel on a Super Record-equipped Pinarello for next year's L'Eroica and it appears to work fine on the workstand. I can't wait to take it on the road and see if it really will be usable. If it does work I'm buying a lottery ticket right away!

Good luck.
