Subject: Re: [CR] Gas pipe Paramount?

Back in the 70s several bike shops around town had beater gas pipe "shop bikes" with upscale decals on them. They may have had "Guaranteed NOT built with Reynolds 531" stickers too. We had one but I can't remember what it was???

They were used for running errands. picking up lunch and so on. The bikes were an insider visual joke among the bike shop bikies.

The Paramount name got used on some Asian imports in the later 80s (usually labeled Paramount Design Group or PDG) but they were still nicely made bikes - with nice lugs and nice quality dropouts. They usually have good quality tubing, too. I have a PDG mountain bike with very pretty lugs. I've never seen anything with the Paramount name that fits the description you give here.
