This Peugeot was previously listed with a 600 euro buy-it-now, but had no takers.  I did bring it to the attention of the list at that time and expressed surprise that the dropouts had fender/mudguard eyes.  It was suggested to me that it was a PX10, lightly modified, rather than a PY10.  Either way, it is a nice bike and even reasonable at the current price if it is a PX rather than PY.  The vendor only quotes French shipping or local pickup.  The auction number is: 260503538869  (Norris mistyped one digit)

I am absoluely delighted with the PY10 I just bought that Norris referred to.  It has Campagnolo hubs, with Simplex QRs, and the question was raised as to whether they might be original.  I conclude that they are not, because the locknut date codes pre-date the bike by a few years.  The pedals are also Campagnolo and they are earlier as well, having the additional toe strap loops on the outside.  So this bike is not quite the claimed replica of Thevenet's TdF winning bike, which would have had hubs and pedals by Maillard rather than Campagnolo.

Sometimes on French Ebay, Peugeot bikes are just like buses in London..you don't see one for a while..then they all come together.

And so it is this week on French Ebay..but I will only select one from the several now up for auction.

This one is a 1977 Peugeot PY10/CP, size 60 cms, weighing in at 10kgs..and it is situated in Paris.

*ITEM No: 260603538869* ** Do not be put off the bike by first appearances..as the angle of the saddle on the main photo make it look like a rodeo bike.

On closer inspection the bike looks to be very original..built of Reynolds 531 and equipped with SPIDEL components ie Simplex, Stronglight. Maillard, MAFAC..and it appears to be in very good condition.

The asking price at the outset is 280 euros..with the auction still having six and a half days to run.

If this auction follows the example of the recent one in which CR Lister Hugh Thornton won an excellent Peugeot bike..then this one too might be a real bargain.

I forgot to check whether the seller will ship abroad..if not there are ways around the problem.
