Sounds like fun...

However, the previous owner had both round adjusters screwed all the way to the top. Tightly. So there is no way to rock, since the only way to go I to loosen the rusted solid adjuster nut. I found two replacements, thankfully though a nice and very generous lister. However, I still want to try to see if I can get these loose, just to see if it is possible...maybe another few weeks soaking in a hot bath of barkeepers friend on my stove...stirring ocasionally...

I remember now what was my technique to free the stuck barrel adjusters :

(1) Put 2 opposing nuts onto the end of the stuck barrel adjuster bolt.

(2) Clamp the adjuster's round nut into the plastic (nylon) grips of a panavise.

(3) Grip the barrel adjuster bolt via the opposting nuts, and rock the barrel adjuster bolt. meanwhile, spray with WD-40 and dig little specs of rust out from within the barrel. Pay particular attention to the flats of the bolt as this is likely where the rust has grown and where it is fouling the threads. Every time you rock, dig a little bit more with a safety pin.

NOS Campy Barrel Adjusters are hard to come by. I think someone a few on ebay a few months ago, and they were gone in minutes. I have 19x new Chorus adjusters in my garage that I am reshaping as nuovo-record adjusters for a group of CR members who are restoring old campagnolo brakes ($12/ea).
