Hello Greg, i'm the seller of Bernard Carré frame. No worry it's a true bernard carré frame. Two thing seatstay attachement and B.CARRE engraved. Dating the frame, Stronglight P3, Stronglight crank with "no marque", TA chainring old logo, Huret drop out: early 50's. Bernard Carré made lot of frame for racer's and team. I have see some Team bike, Mercier, Peugeot etc with team color but Carré frame. The round fork is very fair and rare for a race bike. About the final price, i said in auction the remove crank thread was bad, and the shipping cost to US is important. I allways lot of picture and show all in the bike. so usualy the auction price dont go very up. I think you made "une bonne affaire" Of course if you don't want the frame we can close the auction Regards Jaouen BAZIN Wissous, France

Objet : [CR] EBay Bernard Carre?

Hi list, I just bought off EBay what is said to be a Bernard Carre frame set. It is item # 370288371200. I have a few questions for the French experts out there. Is this a genuine Carre? If so about which year? Which brand would it have originally be sold as? Did Bernard Carre sell bikes under his own name or were they always sold as something else? I have been considering adding something French to my collection for a while, but my only previous experience was with UO 8's and the like. I am a little nervous about the Carre identification as I was the only bidder on a fairly modest opening bid auction. I have gotten the impression over the last few years that Carre built bikes are fairly desirable so the low level of interest on this frame is somewhat alarming. I also gather that Carre frames can vary considerably in quality, if this is a Carre is it a poor quality one ?
Thanks for any help.
