I am pretty certain the change from oval to parallelogram logo came in 1955.

Brooks produced two versions of the B17 with keyhole cutouts in the tops in the early 50s. These were directed at hard core racers who had been modifying their saddles. Both were only made in small numbers for a short period of time.

The B17F launched I think at the November 1952 cycle show and the B17 Special appears to have been made in 1953 and 1954 They were superseded by the Competition model in 1955 which was announced at the November 1954 Earls Court Cycle show.

You can see a pic of a B17 Special at: http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r77/hilarystone/BrooksB17Special.jpg

and a B17F at: http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r77/hilarystone/Brooks-B17F-Special.jpg

This B17F I think has also possibly been modded...

The B17 Competition Campagnolo is in the 1959 Holdsworthy Aids catalogue for the first time - I do not know for certain whether Campy did steel seatposts with the narrow fittings but recently I bought a steel Campy seatpost with the narrow fittings and Brooks Campagnolo saddle...
