Joel, don't worry i'm not affected, CR list is also for contradiction to learn more on vintage bicycle. i see on my auction i say "from 50" but i forgot "'s" you are rigth is a liitle mistake is "from 50's". I know better Ideale sadlle (and french saddle) and i can date Ideale for all. I did'nt knew in US some bike shop modified brooks saddle, in France brooks saddle in 50's is rare, of course 90% of race bike mount with Ideale saddle. Same as US bike shop Ideale was cut off side and back, but not see yet on brooks saddle.

i see your saddle auction, I found one time the same Campagnolo brook's saddle with special narrow seatpost, sometime in CR list people asked what was rare and was not rare, i see everday (in France of course) what is rare or not and campagnolo brooks saddle is rare, in french word we said "bonne peche" ("good fishing")

Jaouen, Here in the US, it was a practice by some shops to modify saddles- adding keyholes and shaving the excess leather off the back, along with the badge. I have a catalog describing prices to do such modifications. I did not look at your other auctions to see that you were selling a lot of 1950s saddles. I just looked at the one and drew a conclusion from that. I am sorry. I retract my statement. I did not know they came from the Ideale factory, there was no mention of it's provenance, and the oval Brooks badge was found on 1950s saddles, and before. Seems like a transition saddle.

The saddle is the real deal. I am sorry if I in any way affected the auction. I guess talking it out is only bringing more attention to the auction.
