Subject: [CR] Masi Twin Plate?

I have a 1974 Italian Masi GC that I got from England last year. It has been painted and decaled as a Guerciotti which isn't a big deal to change but unfortunately the twin plate fork crown has been filled with brass before painting. I am hoping to be able to remove the brass but I am pretty sure that the chrome plating will be toast when I am finished.

The bike has traces of yellow in the seat tube and chainstays so it is possible that it was painted Sammontana yellow originally and from the pics I have seen of those bikes with a twin plate crown the crowns were always chrome with a blue fill.

I have seen some Masi twin plate bikes on WJG that are painted not plated and I am wondering if they were available that way?

I am leaning toward refinishing the bike pure white with either yellow or red accent/fill and I don't think it would be horrible if the crown was not plated.

Thanks
