Yes, thanks. I did mean a two-wire RD. So how did it work? Did the cables move the RD both in and out, rather than having a return spring opposing the cable pull?

\r?\n> Jerry Moos asks "...How common were
\r?\n> trple chainrings in the 50's and earlier, and how well did
\r?\n> the typical rod FD's of the day handle a triple? ... What
\r?\n> rod type FD's were used with triples in the 50's and
\r?\n> earlier? ... Anyone have good photos or explanation of
\r?\n> how to fit a Cyclo two-wire FD?..."

\r?\n> To add to Jan Heine's comments, here's some catalogue
\r?\n> input.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> Various Simplex catalogues from 1948 through the 1950s
\r?\n> state the Simplex lever front derailleurs of various types
\r?\n> are for double chainwheels, and there are no triple
\r?\n> chainwheel cranksets listed in the catalogues.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> Various 1950s Cyclo Benelux catalogues lists only double
\r?\n> chainwheel sets, and state the Benelux lever front
\r?\n> derailleur is for double chainwheels.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> The 1952 Brown Brothers catalogue lists no triple
\r?\n> chainwheel sets, and says the Huret lever front derailleur
\r?\n> is for double chainwheels. I don't have a Huret catalogue to
\r?\n> determine what Huret themselves say about their lever front
\r?\n> derailleur.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> A 1956 Simplex catalogue shows a cable-operated Juy-56
\r?\n> front derailleur and says it "...will operate with a triple
\r?\n> chainwheel and as such is the only gear made today with such
\r?\n> a feature." This catalogue does not list a triple chainwheel
\r?\n> set, only doubles.

\r?\n> If Jerry meant a two wire Cycle RD and not FD, here's
