Subject: [CR] Williams 77 splined cotterless crank removal question

Greetings campers and Anglo-phobes

Suddenly in possession of a Williams 77 splined cotterless crankset on a bike. A new experience for me. Time to take everything apart and see what's still functional in there. Campy crankarm removal tool threaded into the Williams arm, but it went on much too easily. It doesn't thread into a Campy arm that easily. Even the "matching" Williams dustcap didn't thread on that easily. So I'm a little concerned if the Campy tool is the proper threading to remove the crankarms, or if there is a different tool for the Williams cranks (and if so, where would I find one.). I want to remove the crankarms, not the threads.Any suggestions and experiences would be appreciated. Nothing in my old Sutherlands manual, but it's early 70s. No matter how paranoid I am, I'm not paranoid enough.

Thinking outside the (tool) box.
