The italian GCs are a mixed bag because different sub-contractors made them..and there's variation in quality even in the output of one sub. I've seen italian bikes that were distinctly sloppy, and some that were tidy as can be. In general, though, the Carlsbad frames are consistently cleaner and more refined, in large and small ways, than the italian frames, or so it has seemed to me, over the years.
