For a brief time I had two 1974 Masis, one from Carlsbad, and one from Verona. I took some comparison photos, which can be seen here.

The Italian Masi had been modified and repainted (somewhat thickly). The workmanship on the American Masi was definitely better, although the Italian is by no means bad.

I recently had a 1974?Carlsbad?Masi Gran Criterium (#247) side by side with a 1971 Italian Masi Gran Criterium.? Both frames were down to bare metal.?It was an interesting comparison.?I would?definitely give the edge to the Carlsbad frame.?Wish I would have taken some pictures.? Both finished bikes?can be seen ?on Wooljersey if you search "Pyzyk".
