The Italian Masi had been modified and repainted (somewhat thickly).  The workmanship on the American Masi was definitely better, although the Italian is by no means bad. Finally some Masi threads! This is very interesting, wasn't Verona supposed to be confente's shop before he went to CA? And if so, who was left out there building (apparently) after he left?
