I emailed the seller for more details: 126mm rear pacing, minimal miles, no problem shipping them wherever. I've always been big fan of Assos rims, and you don't see too many of this model - it's far ess common than the later dark anodized 16mm and 18mm versions. Don't magine the black spokes are period correct, but that's an easy fix. I as going to grab these for myself, but they're a little too light for my 10 lbs., I fear. No relation to the seller.

I have a pair of the skinny hard ano aero ones I would sell, just the rims. I built them about 1986 for a former housemate. Several times he begged me to rebuild them with clinchers because he no longer wanted the hassle of sewups. I resisted because they were such killer wheels and he never had any problems with them. Finally he had them redone in the shop when I was on vacation.. He got Open Pros and Conti GP. Promptly went out and flatted on a long downhill, rolled a tire and broke his collarbone! If that ain't Karma for ya. Anyway, they are in great shape still. $100/pr. I don't remember if 28 or 32 but email me if interested.

Well, this is a classic response from me... I sort of see both sides of this. When Ken first discovered and adopted the old building in Bisbee for his bike hop cum-museum, naming it the Bike Brothel, I thought is was rib tickling funny nd cool! Ken is such a style man, always does things so well and tastefully, I thought it as a way neat idea. Then by the time he moved out of that old house of ill epute and into the most recent location, the name was permanent, even if the eason became less directly applicable. His collection and display is so awesome hat his little 'den of iniquity' was destined for fame... I was lucky to get one of the very first of the Tee shirts and donned it leefully. But..... I slowly discovered that outside the circle of insiders-and-chuckling-old-vintage-bike-guys, t was not so easy to wear that shirt! I am around kids and customers and omenfolk all of whom just-don't-get-it! The world I uncomfortably find myself iving in is that of a 60+ year old guy who is no longer Mr. rock and roll! My ife's family for instance does not think this garment's image & connotation is bsolutely hilarious around the their pre-teen girls! Imagine that? And I am not razy about how suddenly, in the Pop culture, some people are sort of egitimizing and going public with pornography, "Hos" in music videos, and all hat sort of mess. Seems sort of bad taste and unseemly. All of a sudden, having nce thought of myself as a bit of a firebrand and even wild at times person, I m not crazy about all this vulgar stuff! Where does that put the Bicycle rothel? It's certainly not the same, but enough to cause me to be a tiny bit onflicted about it! So.... I love Ken and his place, both are really unique and splendid, but I am ot expecting everyone to buy into celebrating the name or the darker part of ur shared history. Everything in it's place...

It's a screaming decent into Bisbee, nd when you pull your face up off the handlebar to slow down, the town flashes y through the trees, and it's easy to lose concentration because all you want o do is drink in the sights. You roll down through Tombstone Canyon and wind hrough town, and it is quickly evident that there aren't many towns like isbee. It's a town that, above all else, celebrates it's colorful past. If you stay, you might have lunch with old miners who like to eat burritos at he local eatery. Hang out in the park, and you'll likely share space with some adass bikers, some kids, a couple of art queens. Artists, retirees, big city efugees. Shop owners, transients, gangsters. 5th generation families. They ll live there. It's one of the most diverse little towns you will ever visit, nd they all live in relative harmony. The name of the bike shop just fits. The name wouldn't work in Tucson, but in isbee, it beats the heck out of something like "Ken's Bike Shop". If you ever get to Bisbee and forget to bring a bike, I'm sure that Ken will let ou sleep with one of his beautiful bikes. It could be a memorable evening. I think this color is even a step beyond the Masi purple, which I've seen on ome 3Vs.

I think everyone as had a say (ad infinitum) as to their definition of restoration. Mine is he minimum required to restore a bike to an acceptable level of condition s determined by the owner. Now patina...I don't know. According to definitions 1 & 2: A green film n copper/bronze & a surface appearance that is more beautiful with age. The bjective definition would most typically only apply to copper saddle ivets and brass headbadges. The subjective, beautiful...is in the beholder's ye. So, does this mean that polishing (using mild abrasives to clean surface) a ecades-old original finish, whether chrome-plate, oxidized Al or paint, is no-no? If one looks at the weathered (to be kind) finishes of some olden Age Book bikes, it appears better not to touch. Yet, it is well known hat polishing also removes contaminants that may be harmful to original inishes, esp oxidized paint and rust. Is a rust speck a sign of character or a blemish to be eradicated? Perhaps it depends on the bike? Museum pieces probably best left as-found". A Varsinental...do whatever. Bikes in-between, that's where the onflict presents itself. Jack Romans acramento, California
