Subject: [CR] Keeper of the Flame Rims

Those of you who are dealers may be aware of this. I wasn't until today. Sun Rims, the indiana (I believe) firm that has produced rims since the mid 1980's has adjusted their product line and now offers polished rims.

I've become too busy to make my own wheels. In my efforts to get a pair of fixed gear wheels built I discovered that the aluminum CR13 model is now offered in a polished finish. The last time I looked at these rims they were offered in a brownish "hard anodized" finish. The rims have eyelet in the inside circumference but there is no double rim ferrule. It is like the Mavic MA3 as compared to the Open Pro. The rims are affordable, too. ( i was given a quote of $40 each from a shop that tends to be expensive).

I'm not aware of anyone offering polished rims any more. Mavic stopped doing it. Velocity doesn't. I haven't been following others and the market is shifting to carbon fiber on wheels, also.

Sun can't take benefit from our membership's focus on period correct components, but those who appreciate classic appearance, and support keepers of the flame, and want to consider patronizing an american firm, you might want to take another look at Sun.

I have no business relation with the firm. Just interested in spreading the word about modern polished aluminum rims.
