To all my Fixie/single speed brethern, many positive vibes go out to your stripped down simplified and purest approach to biking. Much to be commended.

On the other, when it goes so far as to rob a classic multi-speed steed of its original purpose, I begin to wince.

Here is an example of what I mean....and of course the fixie craze hit Europe a long time ago as well.

This Mondial is/was a very rare specimen with a tradition going back as far as many of the great italian makers, but it looks like it has met an ignominous fate.
