Subject: [CR] Funque, was Cirque Update

There is another opportunity at Cirque that has not been mentioned yet. I, Harvey Sachs, your modest Funkmeister, won't be at Cirque this year. I can't believe that my nephew, on the Wife's side, no less, had the gall to schedule his wedding on Cirque weekend. This means that you don't need to have something even more outrageous than a Sears Ted Williams, more unusual than an Alenax, to win the Charlie Brown prize for most offensive bike at Cirque. Think about that bike that no one in his right mind would want. Sort of the "last one to ride it has to take it home with him" type bike. A pristine Huffy Aerowind in the original greyish brown, for example, with the plastic-shielded aero brakes. But it must be Vintage-eligible: pre-1983, no indexing derailleurs, and no clipless except Cinelli widowmakers.

You guys ('n gals) are my Good Buds, and I will miss you all.

harvey sachs mcLean va close enough to Leesburg to smell the sweat. :-)

As of Friday afternoon,Cirque registration at the Best Western Leesburg hotel (the 'host" hotel), was at 71%. That's only slightly down from last year at this time, where we were booked at 79%. Of the 99 available rooms, there are still a few rooms left. Unfortunately, not 27 because some rooms have been booked by non-Cirque attendees. If you want a room at the host hotel, I suggest you book it ASAP!

Event registration is still lagging behind the hotel registration figure, but there has been a flurry of registrations since our last "who's attending" update. Today WAS the deadline for registration before price increases. However, the deadline will be extended for another week, until May 12th. If you have not registered and plan on attending, please register ASAP.

With regard to shipping bikes, the hotel can receive and store them until you arrive. Peter K will once again have his rolling shop on site, both at the hotel and the Fairgrounds. Peter will have several workstands available for use, and can provide limited tools. If you want or need Peter to assemble or otherwise work on your bike, there will be moderate charges for Peter's service. Peter donates his time and use of his stands and tools to the Cirque. We very much appreciate Peter's generosity, and ask you to be considerate of this generosity and not abuse this service.

We will have another update, probably by the end of the week, with additional information.

Thanks -
