Hi Richard, As far as I'm aware the very first type where simply the ones with the flat QR lever and full chrome brake shoes, chromed adjuster. [most likely non allen key] Later ones had the domed QR, but still chromed shoes and adjuster, and allen key fitting. Somewhere down the line the chromed shoes and adjuster was replaced by alloy versions.

It seems it was quite common to have a pair of brakes with odd engraving, one saying 'BREV INT' or 'BREV INTER' I have a couple of pair, both deep and shallow drop with such markings.

The final shape changed to the 'Cobalto' aero shape with script engraving, white rubber wheel. As for the actual dates....not sure, but I got my brakes with the alloy shoes etc in or around 1981?

I also have a set with 'allen key' fitting brake shoes, chromed with the plastic, but I suspect these where taken from a later model of brake, maybe Chorus? .......but why revert back to chromed steel for the shoe?

Cheers
