I had to take a look at this bike causing the hoopla, especially since the issue of ebay becoming more and more of a dodgy place to do business. At any rate when I see the bike I don't know didly about any timeline and have seen Brooks Pro saddles on early 60s Legnanos/Bianchi, etc.; however, the Gran Turisimo and "safety" levers were definately a product of the 70s.
In any case when we see the bike for what it presumably really is... a early 70s Paramount, is it a wild beast or what?
the safety levers, the boat anchor cleverly disguised as stem mounted shifters, the clinchers. Its a wonder why Schwinn just didn't put a solid steel Varsity fork on this bike! OK, time to stop beating up on the Americans. Do you recall when Schwinn was the unquestioned king of quality in US bikes? Looking at this rascal hunts the noggin when I think about that.
