Fred,

Can't see the bike, but it would be better to leave it alone or maybe just try to gently preserve/improve the original paint. I wouldn't be surprised if the decals were available; and still I would be inclined to leave it alone.

It's only "original" once.

Okay, to paint or not to paint.? I have a blue and white 1962 Raleigh Carlton Gran Sport that I've had for a couple of years (similar to the 63 model on the CR website). It had suffered severe and uneven paint fade when purchased although the decals are still intact. Whenever I look at it, I feel like having it repainted, but to do so would destroy the very unique decals which probably aren't replaceable. Should I be concerned with looks or just keep it as is and consider the faded paint as "patina". The bike is complete with all original parts except for the Brooks Swallow seat and the fenders which I'll probably replace with Bluemels since finding the original fenders is also unlikely. Would repainting ruin any value the bike has in it's present condition? Thanks.
