Subject: [CR] Zeus frame colors

I have a Zeus that I purchased new in about 1972. The frame is painted bright red. I recently purchased another Zeus that looks just like my original bike, but is painted a very different type of color, semi-metallic plum, or purplish maroon. I want to have the plum colored new old bike painted a color that I associate more with Zeus, like bright red or bright orange or bright blue, but my friend / guru at a local bike shop thinks the metallic plum paint is original. The decals are definitely not original, as they are not positioned quite right, and the paint on the edges of the frame lugs is thicker than on my 1972 bike. I have a 1974 Zeus catalog I got from Retro Velo that only lists primary colors for the frames. Would anyone know if it's possible that metallic plum or metallic purplish maroon could be an original Zeus color on an early 70's bike? Thanks. Thomas Sacco, Oakland CA
