Would anyone know if it's possible that metallic plum or metallic purplish maroon could be an original Zeus color on an early 70's bike? Thanks. Thomas Sacco, Oakland CA

Thomas:

Since Wooljersey is down, I have attached 4 scans from Zeus ads showing frames in red metallic colors.  In '70 (101 catalog) and '72 (102 catalog) there was a copperish color, and in 77 (bicycle flyer) the cyclo-cross bike was featured in metallic plum.

Unfortunately, the list-bot will prune the plums away from the rest of the listers.

I have also seen other circa-1970 Zeus bikes, from the time when they still had metal head-badges (the round design that recalls the Alfa logo), that were painted metallic colors -- I've seen red, blue, and green.  I believe the CR site shows a metallic green one.
