.. thanks folks, for the reminder about "E" spokes--

last week, I was trying in vain to find compatible spoke nipples for a wheel I am building with them--- ended up buying some NOS old stock DTs...

Do remember that the French threading on Robergel spokes is hostile to spokes from other lands...  I'd be quite sure that Wayne Bingham has "a few" in the Mel Pinto stock.

Hi Kirke. If memory serves, the "E" spokes are Robergel Trois Etoile [3 star] a top of the line chromed spoke back in the day. They were considered a bit "stretchy." The ones w/ the crescent are Robergel Sports, a reliable, no nonsense galvanized spoke. Both were good choices before DT appeared on the scene. Chromed Unions and the less available Radaellis were their main rivals. Cheers, Billy Ketchum; Chicago, IL; USA.

Subject: [CR] Spoke Identification Help

Hello List!

I am trying to identify the spokes used on a wheelset I bought off ebay last year. The hubs are high flange 36-hole Campagnolo Pista laced to "red label" Fiamme tubular rims with the old oval-shaped Fiamme logo.

On the front wheel, the spoke heads have an upper-case "E" on them. On the rear wheel, the spoke heads have what appears to be a crescent moon shape on them. Both are tied and soldered.

Any help would be much appreciated!
