FIRST?I do owe an apology to those that do own bikes that ARE hung on the wall BUT can NOT ride them. due to medical reasons or some?such, OF course a fine vintage bike can be as attractive as?a fine painting etc or any other work of art. My biggest gripe and at my age they get bigger.?IS someone that has a FINE vintage bike and does NOT use it for the purpose it was built for.????SECOND, Why not take photos of the bike as it WAS. document with photos and words the condition it was in, (This is standard practice with vintage car collectors). THEN. get it re finished, with to days high tech materials SO it will last ANOTHER lifetime, In THIS way the bikes we now collect will still be around for future generations, NOT dumped in a skip for scrap.
