I think this validates my thesis that a low-end bike in superb condition is even more valuable than a high-end bike. This is a particularly unusual low-end bike because it has lots of great chrome, including very unusual head lugs and fenders. Also, it has a very nice high-end treatment and beautiful seat lug.

What can you get for $1200 in a bike shop today? Something made of plastic without a soul, imho.

This instance of the bike has excellent brazing and is unused. A colnago in this kind of condition would fetch more than $1200 with correct parts. And, there are going to be more colnagos in this kind of condition because people buy and restore colnagos. Nobody buys and restores low-end torpados ..
