What strikes me as interesting is that, although later Simplex QR levers adopted the Campagnolo design, current Mavic QR levers use the old Simplex design.

It makes me wonder what prompted Simplex to abandon their own design in the first place? Were those levers more prone to slippage? I can imagine this is less of a problem today, now that most bikes use vertical dropouts.
