Hi all,
I've got a 70's Frejus Tour De France that came to me as a bare frame and is currently set up as my commuter. I found a nice old Italian fork on Ebay for it and have ridden with it for a couple of years. The problem is that the tire to crown clearance is too tight for fenders and I'm now prepping it for the coming winter commuting. So I'm on the hunt for a suitable 700c fork with eyelets for fender mounting on the dropouts and a steerer of around 20cm Length. (The frame's a little small and I found I could get the bars up to a height I like using spacers to support the longer steerer.) Finish is not important as the bike wears its age proudly and is a long way from original. That said, chrome is always welcome as it goes with anything and Imperial oval type blades would be nice. Please let me know what you might have that could fit.
Now a slight digression. It was great fun reading the recent set of Frejus stories, as this bike is one I bought new when I was in high school in '72. I ended up trading it off in the late 80's in Seattle to get a bike to commute on during grad school. In 2007, the frame showed up on Ebay and I recognized it by certain wear marks and the Roberts Cyclery label. I bought it back and built it up with mostly Campy SR. (A real step up from the Valentino level parts it originally came with.) I'd always regretted losing that bike and now that it's back I know why as it's still more fun to ride than anything else I've ridden.
Thanks,
