Hi list, all this talk of Reynolds other applications reminds me of motorcycle frames. Reynolds played a big part in Britain's motorcycle industry.  Not surprising as the motorcycle started as little more than a motorised bicycle. 531 tubing was often specified on racing frames, and Reynolds themselves were frequently involved in the design and supply of frames .  Reynolds figures prominently in Norton's international competition history. I wouldn't be suprised if Reynolds also had a hand in racing car tubular frame structures as well.
