Price was OK with me.... Of interest were the comments on the condition of the bike. I debated whether to polish up the bike, change the brakes for Universal 68s. The end result would have looked quite spectacular, the alloy parts would have all polished up to a great shine, they weren't at all corroded. Paint would have cleaned beautifully, the few spots of paint corrosion would have touched in nicely. Decals were excellent. On the other hand, once a bike like this (none others known, so no reference as to correct parts) has been restored, who is to say that I didn't start off with a frame and cobble it together out of a box of parts? The "as found" condition guarantees that any upgrades (and I think the only ones were the brakes) were period, there is no falsification. Plus the buyer will get the pleasure and gratification of "restoring" the bike himself. Another point is that some bikes last year went for high prices that in my opinion started off in really rough condition. Alloy was polished to a high shine, the tell-tale corrosion marks left after polish were hidden by distant underexposed photos, rusty carriers were overpainted to hide the rust etc.... I consider this dishonest practice. So my policy is to sell bikes "as found", with lots of photos so that the buyer knows exactly what he gets. This may put off some buyers, but I do notice that the bidders on the Colnago were all experts or very well known collectors, in actual fact some of them might well be lurking behind this CR list....  Who knows, the winner of the auction might even be in our mongst..... So I think in the end the "barn-find" presentation was a plus to this bike. BTW Mike, you should have hit that button on the RH, you just missed a nice holiday in St Emilion.
