Charlie:  In the publication of any book the author painfully has to decide what will be left out of the book in addition to what will be included in the book.  that being said, perhaps the author could be persuaded to look into the other vintage bikes of other makers in the hands of the sinister likes of the list members.  How many volumes should we expect to have done on the subject?  I enjoy the book as others do, and also lament that the other fine makes were not included.    If you know Jan he does have a preference for the French touring, pourtier and randonneur  bikes.  I used to tease him on the name of his publication to ask him if it should be named "Vintage FRENCH Bike Quarterly" If he would make a tour to Switzerland and studied the cache of the eBay seller "speedbikes" then there would be a differing view and more on the lines of what some others would enjoy.   The photography is still great and his second book is excellent also.   BT

I received has a Christmas gift  The Golden Age of handbuilt Bicycles by Jan Heine, and others. A great book. But I have a question on the book. The book covers nearly all French builders. My question is this, wasn't there other great builders in other countries and if so isn't the book title misleading has it doesn't cover those other countries. What happened in England, Italy, Germany, USA ,Sweden etc in terms of bicycles. Surely the French weren't the only ones building great bicycles for the era they were built in?
