Subject: [CR] London Framebuilders

Hello Barrie, I do find the tales surrounding the London framebuilders fascinating. I have small collection of London built bikes and frames with a preference for Gillotts (I am the VCC M.e.) I am wondering if the framebuilder who collected the welding rod ends might have been Bill Philbrook? I do know that he used to brazeup broken hacksaw blades and make tea in a saucepan using the brazing torch. I would love to hear more tales. I have a beautifully made Holdsworth from c 1960. Was Bill there at that time? Mark Stevens Evanton Scotland PS dont forget to sign off on your CR postings.

Barrie wrote; Hi No, It was Tommy Quick, and I dont know whats happened to him, but he had a small shed in Battersea heated by a pot stove. His frames seem to have dissapeared or reapeared as something else. Your frame was probably built by Reg Collard who was with Roy Thame about then.CAn you forward this to the main webb site for me please? Barrie Roundham UK

MS wrote Do you want me to forward this to the Classic rendezvous? I remeber TJQuicks it was halfway between Catford and Forest Hill on the south Circular. I bought a nice Gillott frame that belonged to Daniel rudd who was managing the shop back in the 90's. One of the guys was still riding a ancient Granby tapertube. Mark
