I knew Victor quite well when I lived in LA. He was a real character. I had an extra ticket to the Olympic track events and took him to a couple of sessions. A very interesting guy. And to set something straight, my partner Doug White made what I believe to be the first purpose built off road bike in 1973, in Marin, but because it used, as Victor's, 20" wheels it doesn't seem to count.
