I would have to disagree here concerning the notion that the term high flange is of recent origin. I have an ad from the importer of Durkopp Bicycles, John Eisenmann, dating late thirties I estimate by the look of the bikes and the fact that they are called the Kilian-Vopel type. The Track Model, Killian Vopel specifically specifies "Durkopp High-flanged Hubs." The road version speaks of "small flanged Durkopp Racing Hubs."
