Subject: [CR] Raleigh Ilkeston SS Caps

A lot comments re a small item.

The Harry Quinn track bike on ebay seems to have left the cap "proud" over all of the cap and attracting the comment that it looks unfinished.

Andrew Hague produced caps with an engraving of the builders name on, I have a few in my scrapbox from customers I built for in my solo days.

Ilkeston caps were silver soldered in position and hand finished to a point at the top and only the lower half was left proud, time consuming but that's what we did!

Have a look at the seat stay cap on my 1979 frame to illustrate this:

Not to keen on Norris's comment on Gerald:
>>As for the botle bosses you would have thought that Gerald O'Donovan could have devised something a little more imaginative and less incongruous.<<

Seems like blasphemy to me ;-)
