All,

Many thanks for all your input on the best bar tape for that good vintage look. I will probably go with the Fizik tape, as they offer a blue that looks like it will complement my blue Raleigh Pro.

Back in the day ('60's) we used to cut old innertubes lenghthways and wrap the bars first. If you did it carefully you would get a nice comfortable double thickness by following the overlap. We would then over-wrap with cloth tape.

I am currently trying to remove some "self stick" cloth tape from a '70 Hetchins I am refurbishing, and it is coming off in tiny little pieces that will take me a month to finish! This reinforces why I don't want to go with the cloth tape today.

Thanks to you all, this is a fantastic resource.
