The Sugino Messenger cranksets are 130, and aimed at the urban fixie type bike. 144 is really a competitive track size at that point.There is no advantage to it for the street.

It does seem strange that Merry sales (owner of the IRD and Soma brands) would burden that crank with a relatively obscure bolt pattern. Sounds like an opportunity for someone who knows which mfg is making it for them. Then again, there are firms that are actively reproducing the 50.4 TA pattern crank.
