hi jerry , i saw a derosa frame very similar to my own and built more period correct with all campy sr.... panto'ed chain ring, seat post, brake levers etc.... a cinelli old logo stem and bars... p.c wheelset and tires, but a modern glossy re-paint with the decals clear coated... and it definitely took away from the effect.. for me..the owner loved it.. a beautiful pearl white and a beautiful bike nonetheless...i wouldn't trade it for my mostly orig. blue 79-80 derosa (except for the line striping enamel a friend had that we daubed all over but was almost the same hue) and the original decals, warts and all.... mine is built with a nice mix of some super record and an assortment of c-record stuff ...several gruppos, all three i think...i do have a very nice pantographed stem(cinelli 1R and 66-42 campione du monde bars as well) .... mine seems to be permanently stuck(its been worked on by 2-3 experts and even took a trip to spectrum cycles for analysis...its in there ) luckily for me its a ht and length i can live with(i am not eddy merckx and that was every sgl. dimension he was compelled to tweak..can't argue w/ success )...so basically we are back to the different strokes for different folks aspect of restoration....that discussion... do what feels right for you...kevin ruberg.. howell nj...usa
