Superb, very special bike, Kevin...

Of course this is toward the end period of DeRosa used stamped lugs & bbkt shell. Lugs are Dubois and fork crown is only cast piece.

That color reminds me that Ugo DeRosa wanted that blue to be his "signature color"... When Gita Sporting Goods (Georgio Andretta) started importing these frames (about this time too, mid to late 1970s) I was told that this would be the only color brought in, named "Ugo Blue", because it was his fav... Later other colors stated appearing.

I bought a gorgeous full chrome frame set a couple of years later. (Karen Rawls has that bike now!) By that time DeRosa had started using their investment cast ensemble, same pattern Merckx used at his start up.

Just posted photos of a recently purchased De Rosa to Wool Jersey. Estimate age as 1976-1977. Note the uncommon fluted HEART seatstay caps versus the more commonly found flat DE ROSA caps. Also note the nicely reshaped Brooks Pro saddle, thought to be the work of Bettini. Factory pantographed De Rosa Cinelli Milano 1R stem and Campagnolo brake levers.

Photos may be viewed at the following Wool Jersey address:

Have not ridden it yet, but can't wait!
